Fierce Relaxation is a four-week experiential online class. This interactive course provides the tools and skills that allow you to stay present and alert in all situations. The ultimate goal of this course is to help you perceive and act in the real world. Our goal is reality and aware choice.

Who is it for?

  • Do you spend more energy avoiding anxiety and fearful situations than living a full life?
  • Do you feel that something is wrong with you and you are uncomfortable in your own body?
  • Do you have trouble sleeping because you can't shut the voices off in your head?
  • Have you been watching others do things you would like to try and feeling left out, yet you don't take that first risk?
  • Are you stuck or frustrated by a cycle of repeated failed efforts to create a happy, healthy life?
  • Do you avoid the challenges that are calling you such as a new career or relationship?
  • Is eating well and exercising regularly an annual resolution that ends in frustration and defeat after a few weeks or days?

  • If you see yourself here, then Fierce Relaxation is for you.

The concepts and practices taught in Fierce Relaxation are ones that have the power to naturally enhance your ability to be excited by life instead of being afraid of it.

The name Fierce Relaxation is exactly what this course requires and offers. Fierceness describes the courage it takes to look at our deeply held beliefs and fears. Our obstacles are living in our thoughts and the way we see ourselves. The fearful and avoidant reactions to our thoughts, feelings, and beliefs maintain a cycle of frustration.

The ironic part of this system of thought and belief is that most of those fears and negative beliefs are not true, but we act and react as if they were. Have you ever decided you were going to break out of some habit, such as overeating or being a couch potato? At first you may have felt excited and good about the effort but then you had a bad day, some emotional setback, or something interrupted your routine. Suddenly you lose the will to stick with your commitment to change.

Do you remember the thoughts you had at that time?
"What's the use? I'm just never going to be able to keep this up."
    "Who was I kidding?"
    "I really don't care anyway."

MRI scans have shown that change itself lights up the pain center of our brain. Yes, change is literally painful. When we no longer have the positive feelings that got us going in the first place, then all we are experiencing is the pain. Yuck, no wonder we quit.

It take fierceness to stay with change. It can be challenging. If it were easy to change beliefs, fears, and behaviors we would have done it by now. The relaxation portion of Fierce Relaxation gives us the ability to soothe the pain and discomfort of the process of change. Without the ability to self soothe we will quit or turn to some way of numbing the pain.

Why examine these fears and beliefs in the first place?

We rarely do until something in our lives is not working. The fact that you are reading this may indicate that you are looking for answers and have been for sometime.

What will be different this time?

The training and tools of mastering your inner world is the difference.

Relaxation training is the tool that allows us to take that deeper look and not run away or give up. Now most people I have worked with begin with a less than great view of the idea of relaxation as a tool for excellence. It just doesn't sound hard enough to justify significant change. Well it is hard and it does create change. When we master the ability to create a strong, positive, and calm inner world we are ready to face all challenges.

    About Roger Nix

Ten years ago I would have answered yes to every one of the questions asked above. Today I am comfortable and happy to be me. I am not without challenges, but I know I have the ability to handle whatever comes my way. In fact I now seek challenges.

There is a bountiful supply of books, classes, and therapies available to assist in the process of living a full and functional life. Having these choices is great because often it is not what is said, but how and by whom, that allows a person to hear and get a new understanding.

The trainings and concepts in this class are not new nor did I create them. What is unique about this class is me. I have personally done this work. I have gone from being driven by my deeply held beliefs (most of them were false) to choosing behaviors and beliefs that are giving me the life I want.

At one time I was afraid of my own thoughts and body. I remember feeling desperately alone. I spent hundreds of nights frustrated while I struggled to sleep, fearful that the next day I would not be able to do my job because of fatigue. I was terrified that everyone at work would see me fail. I was so afraid of looking bad to them -- and I owned the company!

The amazing thing about beliefs is they are so powerful they can take away the joy and appreciation of everything that is already good and joyful in life. I was wealthy, relatively young (35), popular, and had lots of friends. Inside though I was miserable and unhappy.

This unhappiness was a gift because it caused me to look for answers. I have spent the last twenty years doing just that. Now while I am always facing new challenges I have been able to move through the chronic old ones.

Earlier I said thoughts had the power to take away happiness. What I know now is they have the power to create joy and contentment, no matter the circumstances. I am happy to share with you how I did this.

    How the Class Works

Each week of the class you will be able to download a written PDF lesson with lecture and homework assignments. You will also receive a web address for a class forum where you will post your responses to each homework assignment, read the posts from other students, and read the comments posted by Roger. Roger will log into the class forum one or two times per week, depending on the number of class posts, and make comments about the posts and sometimes gives additional homework assignments. You can work at your own pace and log into the class forum and read and post any time. There is no set class schedule.
